-- Drones Have Given Iran Asymmetric Advantage
On January 6, the Treasury Department imposed sanctions on the executive board members of the Qods Aviation and Aerospace Industries Organization (IAIO), an Iranian defense company founded by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in 1985.
IAIO designs and manufactures Mohajer-6 mid-range reconnaissance and combat drones. It has been sanctioned by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) since December 2013.
-- ‘Made in Iran’ Exhibition Opens in Pakistan’s Karachi
Islamic Republic of Iran has opened an exhibition to showcase its domestic products in the Pakistani city of Karachi. The Governor of Sindh Kamran Tesori, the head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) Alireza Peyman-Pak and the Consul General of Iran in Karachi Hassan Noorian in addition to some other Iranian and Pakistani business officials attended the opening ceremony of the “Made in Iran” exhibition.
The exhibition is held at the Karachi Expo Centre, in Karachi, the capital of Sindh province located in southern Pakistan, and will last three days.
-- Yazd Opens Int’l Storytelling Festival
The 24th International Storytelling Festival kicked off on Sunday, in Yazd Province, central Iran, with the slogan ‘Story is the voice of life’.
The Deputy Head of the Center for the Intellectual Development of Child and Adolescent for Cultural Affairs Mahmoud Moravvej delivered a speech in the opening ceremony and called the festival the most social event in Iran.

-- Iraq deployment of border guards is part of agreement with Iran: MP
An Iranian lawmaker has said that Iraq’s move to reinforce border guards was part of a security agreement between Iran and Iraq.
The lawmaker, Ahmad Hossein Fallahi, pointed to Iraq’s decision to deploy 6,000 troops to the border with Iran and Turkey. “If security is not provided by the neighbors, our country will take action on its own, which will definitely cause border tensions,” he said.
-- Iranian culture impetus for Malaysian storyteller Nor Azhar Ishak
Malaysian storyteller Nor Azhar Ishak has said that he has been influenced by Iranian art, culture and the skills of Iranian storytellers. Ishak is competing in the 24th edition of the International Storytelling Festival, which opened on Sunday in the central Iranian city of Yazd.
He is scheduled to share his story “A Pangolin Story” during the festival, which is organized annually by the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults - Kanoon.
- SP phase 11 development plan to reach final stages soon: Raisi
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said phase 11 of the South Pars gas field development plan is going to reach its final stages in the near future, Shana reported. “The development of phase 11 of South Pars continued strongly after the foreign contractors quit and it will reach the final stages in the near future,” Raisi said in a cabinet meeting on Sunday.
Mentioning the recent increase in the country’s gas consumption due to the cold weather, the president said the completion of the South Pars phase 11 development plan would have had a significant impact on balancing the current mismatch between production and demand.
